Greg Stampfl’s musical journey began at the age of five with his first love: the piano. By 14, he was already performing live, taking the stage with his first band at the Great Falls Festival’s Battle of the Bands in Paterson, NJ. That same year, he picked up guitar and bass, quickly expanding his musical range.
Throughout high school, Greg became a fixture in the performance scene. He played bass in the Wayne Hills Stage Band, with notable appearances at venues including Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ramapo College, and the Hoffman-La Roche Meeting Hall. He was the only student musician from his high school to be featured in the New York Daily News—a proud moment captured while performing on bass.
After high school, Greg launched multiple bands across the New Jersey music circuit. For 15 years, he played with “Reflections,” performing across NY, NJ, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania at private parties, weddings, and resorts. He later founded the “Members Only Band (MOB),” a popular tribute-style group covering legends like Neil Diamond, Elton John, Eric Clapton, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and more. MOB became a staple act at private events and large clubs alike.
Alongside performing, Greg ran a recording studio, producing original music and honing his skills behind the scenes.
Today, Greg lives in North Carolina, where he continues to foster musical talent and community. He co-founded the Greensboro School of Rock, now home to over 100 students. Every Tuesday, he co-hosts an open mic night with musical partner Bob Hensch at Social Habit in Kernersville. Greg also brings his experience and energy to the stage with the Sandy Ridge Band, performing throughout the Greensboro area.
