Born in Huntsville, Alabama and raised in Upstate New York, Chris Pelc’s musical roots run deep and wide. He picked up the classical bass in fifth grade and quickly stood out, performing with school orchestras and earning multiple NYSSMA gold medals as a soloist. His dedication took him to All-County and All-State orchestras, where he honed the technique and discipline that still shape his sound today.
High school brought out his louder side—Chris swapped his concert blacks for big hair, diving into "hair metal" and classic rock bands. While at Georgia Tech, he kept the amps buzzing with the classic rock group White Trash.
When life shifted gears, Chris spent 17 years anchoring Contemporary Christian music at two Triad-area churches. His passion for diverse styles led him to become the bassist for the TDK House Band, sharing stages nationwide with three-time Grammy nominee MOTU, the legendary bluesman from Long Island.
Chris’s musical tastes span classical, easy listening, classic rock, heavy metal, country, and blues—threads that all find their way into his improvisational style. In recent years, he’s played with local favorites Decades and currently holds down the low end with Backroad Symphony, lighting up stages around the Triad, including an opening set for Big Something at the Grasshoppers Stadium. He joined Sandy Ridge Band in 2025.
Off stage, Chris is a proud husband and father. When he’s not playing bass, you’ll probably find him cheering on the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, or Georgia Tech.
